DGBusiness Awards 2018: Rural Enterprise Awards Sponsored by SRUC

Dumfries & Galloway Chamber of Commerce is calling on businesses across the region to enter the DGBusiness Awards 2018.

Held in association with Developing the Young Workforce Dumfries & Galloway, the awards are not only a great opportunity for businesses to showcase themselves and raise their profile, they can also provide a good insight.

Completing an awards application can highlight potential areas for improvement or development, as well as providing the perfect excuse to look back at what you and your company have achieved in detail. It can also be an opportunity to freshen up a business plan, processes, competencies, and set new goals.

The DGBusiness Awards 2018 will be judged by an independent panel of experts, comprised of business figures from across the region. They will assess entries and select a shortlist from which the winner for each of the 12 categories will be chosen.

DGBusiness Rural Enterprise Award sponsored by SRUC

Doing business in a rural area presents particular challenges.  This category seeks to find out how businesses have found ways of overcoming these challenges and how they have innovated in order to grow.  It will also look at how businesses have used their rural location to their advantage in both marketing and product quality.

What is SRUC?

Four respected partners – Barony, Elmwood and Oatridge Colleges and SAC – merged in 2012 to become Scotland’s Rural College – SRUC. We exist to deliver comprehensive skills, education and business support for Scotland’s land-based industries, founded on world class and sector-leading research, education and consultancy. The integration of these three complementary ‘knowledge exchange’ services is of significant value to all with an interest in land-based activities – be they learners, businesses, communities or policy-makers.

The future for the land-based industries will be extremely challenging with competing demands and new opportunities to be addressed. The next generation of business leaders and policy makers will need to be highly skilled and knowledgeable to navigate their way through a complex operating environment.

To achieve this, we will draw on our accomplished history of more than a century of success in supporting landbased communities and industries.

Strong in our heritage, yet stronger still as SRUC, we will strive to lead the way in delivering economic, social and environmental benefits while providing a strong voice for our rural industries.
