DG Chamber welcomes Leona Seaton to the board. She replaces Kieran Downey who has stepped down due to work commitments.
Leona is the Director for Skills and Marketing at Dumfries and Galloway College. Her role is pivotal to the College’s ambition to support industry upskilling and support regional economic ambitions.
Prior to working for the College, Leona has worked across the public, private and voluntary sector various roles related to employability, skills and economic development. She spent 9 years at Glasgow Chamber of Commerce, latterly as the Project Director. While there she launched the first regional Developing the Young Workforce group, was actively involved in regional economic priorities and was the creative mind behind the award winning #NoWrongPath campaign. More recently Leona has held roles in the Scottish Government leading on the employer input of the Young Person’s Guarantee then latterly with Dumfries and Galloway Council leading the regional approach to No One Left Behind and spearheading the regional response to the Disability Employment Gap.
Alongside her paid roles Leona is also a trustee of Glasgow based charity Refuweegee, a role she has held since the charity was established in 2015 and is strong advocate of social justice issues.
We look forward to working closely with Leona to look at how we can grow DG Chamber of Commerce in the coming years.
