Pop Up Shop Pops Up On-line

After the success of last year’s Pop Up Shop in The Loreburne Shopping Centre and with all their market festivals cancelled for the foreseeable future, The Guild Dumfries is strongly committed to trying to find ways of continuing to support their community of makers, creatives and producers. Therefore, on the 27th and 28th June 2020, The Guild is hosting an online Pop-Up Shop, where people with a passion for shopping locally can buy direct from over 30 different small independent businesses, most of whom live and work right here in the region. So why not spend the weekend with them online, from the comfort and safety of your own home at The Guild Online Pop Up Shop.

Director Leah Halliday says, “We will be showcasing a handpicked and curated selection of talented makers and home-grown brands from across the region and beyond via our social media networks and website, so pop the date in your diaries and follow the hashtag #theguildpopup”

Shoppers will be able to visit the Online Pop Up Shop via The Guild’s Facebook and Instagram accounts, or go directly to their website to browse each of the independent businesses featured. There, you’ll be able to click on the makers selling pages, place your orders, commission special gifts, homewares and more, plus chat directly with the makers. You can also expect a line-up of fun, inspiring, hands on activities, demos, and virtual studio tours throughout the weekend.

Leah adds, “We hope that we can work together to offer makers & producers support and opportunities to build their audience during these turbulent times. Now more than ever, they need our support and your’s.”

Businesses have had to radically rethink how to get their products to their customers during lockdown and The Guild with its community of makers, creatives and producers is no exception. Director Kirsten Scott explains, “Until the Dumfries Market Festival opens again, we will continue to share online events. Look out for our online workshops coming soon too!”

If you are an artist, maker, creative, food and drink producer and interested in taking part in this event, or simply want to register your interest as a shopper, please go to https://www.theguilddumfries.org to find out more. Applications for traders open on Monday 25th May for 10 days. Successful applicants will be notified on 5th June.
